Subcommittee Reports

VTP AFCLK update- Karin

●      Arrowsic and Georgetown up and running

●      New tagline for the VTP “Essential Rides for Everyday Living”. Additional suggestions were made. Susan and others have weighed in that the winning tagline is the best, clearly explaining our transportation program and flexible in responding to riders’ needs,

●      Susan is active in Phippsburg VTP. She has identified Elizabeth, who offered to be the ride coordinator/administrator as long as there is a backup administrator, Susan offered to consider this. James and karin will meet with Elizabeth.

VTP Woolwich update- Marla

●      The select board granted permission to put a notice about the VTP in the tax mailings. 9-10 hours of volunteer time were used to stuff all the envelopes. We’ll see how community members respond. Tommy is committed to putting something on the website.

YMCA Walking Program- Marla

●      Free and safe walking on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Extended program. Anyone can walk between 1 and 2pm on Tuesday and Thursdays. We will reuse the posters. Print off a poster and spread the word wherever you go. Marla will resend as some are having difficulty opening the file. Kelly will print more flyers to hang.

Magnet Review, UMaine will print a new batch for us.

●      The question was raised whether to add “Sand Buckets for Seniors” Program and the “Good Morning Calls” offered by Bath PD and the Sheriff’s Department to all of Sagadahoc County. The group thought it was a great idea to include it on the magnet. Jim added that Georgetown adds their AFG brochure to the sand buckets when they are delivered.

●      Polly asked whether this program is also available for her apartment complex, expressed concern for ice on the ground around the Uptown, Bath. Jess will reach out to the management to inquire about sanding.

●      Maine Health is still Mid Coast Hospital, confusion around the new name.

●      Suggestion to check that all phone numbers are up to date - Barbara will see to that. Karin will send her an updated version.

Rack Card Update-Jess Irish

●      Transportation is now on the updated rack card. Minor aesthetic edits. Do we know if people are picking them up? Some have been dropped at Bracketts. More edits: Bottom, “dial 211”. Make it larger and stand out. YMCA should say “Bath Area Family YMCA”

Social Media/Website- Susan

●     Making updates, working on the homepage of our website. Updated the facebook page, in the process of merging the two FB pages. Set up an instagram account. Having a problem with Instagram at the moment.

●      Information about fraud and useful information for the website. Susan makes the updates to FB, Karin and Susan work on the website. Susan is not sure whether all shared links are appropriate for all our audiences.

●      Janet & Kelly will meet with Susan in March to see how they can help.

●      Analytics provided? We are getting emails into the age friendly account that give feedback on site visits including our own interactions with the website. Progress made, moving forward!

Photo Project -Susan

●      James, Janet, Susan, Karin, Allison. See draft. AFC google docs - subfolder contains everything related to the photo contest.

●      Talked with YMCA, Main ST Bath, Midcoast Youth and sent an email to Chocolate Church. Y and MCYC are very excited about the event. Susan is posting minutes from the meetings in the subfolder. Conversations about prizes, photographers, subject matter, judges, using partner organizations’ facilities.

●      Choc Church may be interested, and this org is a good match with their art room.

●      See draft of promotion plan. Project plan terms and conditions. Came from Frame Contest. Judges, still in the process of finding. Next step to reach out to candidates.

●      People need to submit photos on Google. Feedback to Susan to make sure it is set up correctly. Hope is to launch late April, before school ends.

●      Want open to young kids, all ages?

●      Goal: portray older people as active and engaged in a multigenerational community. 50+ in every photo. Promotion with Graphic Design students at Bath Tech will take place after March 5th.

●      To be published on FB page and website, as well as Main Street Bath, YMCA, and Midcoast Youth Center.

●      James suggests having a mentoring session as the kickoff event. Or, would it be better to do that overthe summer with time to plan the event? We will want to keep people engaged over summer.

●      End of contest late September. Judging in October. Awards event in November.

●      Morse Yearbook Committee, reach out to Johnna. Bath Parks & Rec social media, may share some posts, they have fantastic FB posts. Encompasses the multigenerational goal and not to forget the Senior Center, including submitting an article for their monthly newsletter.

●      Michele will reach out to Wendy Jung to help with the photography contest.
